Rally in Lithuania
There is a belief that Lithuania is a country of basketball. Probably the number of world-class basketball stars in the overall ratings of the countries of the world is greatest evaluating per thousand of residents of the country. Are Lithuanians indeed such a collective nation it seems when you take a look at basketball courts ? Probably, not. Being aware of rally history in Lithuania, it is true to say that the formula of „one person team“ applies here as well. The synthesis of Lithuanian temperament, rationality and diligence meets the requirements of rally perfectly. Or maybe good basketball and good rally requires similar qualities ?
Indeed, rally in Lithuania has a history. Rally stars are remembered here for decades. In Russia as well as in Western countries, the names of our several rally masters are forever included into the Great Books of the most beautiful branch of motor sports. There are really solid arguments allowing to state that Lithuania is a rally country.
The economy of Lithunia is growing. Every year more and more viewers are attracted by competitions in special stages. Rally is reviving in all senses: higher competition level from technical and organizational point of view, car possibilities as well as culture of the viewers and participants. Where from does this progress come ? Not only due to increasing economy for sure. Having counted basketball stars, we should make calculations how many much more powerful and sightworthy cars in Lithuania fall on a thousand of residents, compared to ordinary vehicles. „Petrol“ indeed is present in blood of Lithuanians, therefore rally was here, is today and will be in future.
We have everything that is needed: good roads with solid gravel covering where fast and exciting competition stages are prepared, common infrastructure which allows to ensure the sufficient service and security level to the participants and the viewers, friendly people and warm atmosphere of rally championship of the country. Besides, Lithuanian girls are the most beautiful in Europe.
What makes Lithuanian rally so attractive for guests from abroad ? No communication problems, guests from foreign countries are always in the focus of attention here. Rally documents are made ready in Lithuanian and English as well, the rules basically correspond to FIA rally regulations. It is also important that prices for participation in the competition are „friendly“ to the budget of your team: start competition fee is about 300 Euros. The crews which have participated in not less than three championship stages have a possibility to contest for a championship total position in any of A8, N4, N3 or one of national classes.
Every crew wants to make certain of its power not only in local competitions but also in real „battle“ conditions when special stages are new, the competitors are unfamiliar, and the driving speed actually depends not only on minor fortunes nor unfortunes in routes known by heart, but on the precision of stenograph just written down for the first time, possibilities and harmony of the crew and reliability of enginery. It may be for sure that Lithuanian rally championship is the best place for such self-challenge.
Long ago the days are gone by when marshals and officers were using manual chronometers. Today you can come, rent a rally car with maintenance team and enjoy good solid gravel enginery saving special stages, improve driving skills here in Lithuania. The rather that competition schedule is „one day“ – Friday is dedicated to reconnaissance, on Saturday the competion takes place, and Sunday is a day off.
Lithuanian rally championship consists of six stages: one - in winter, the other five take place later in spring, summer and autumn throughout all the regions of the country.
The competitions are prepared by several organizer teams. They take place at various locations of Lithuania at different time, accordingly they are notably dissimilar. The usual competition date of winter stage - „Visaginas Rally“ – is the second weekend of February. Getting off to a good start once in a year, on the gravel covered by ice and snow, „decorated“ by jumps, the crews are not able to acquire the sufficient experience in winter rally, therefore every time these competitions are exciting and full of surprises. „Þemaitija“ often amazes by new special stages, „Aukðtaitija“ is always a great gala for teams and the viewers, and the final stage of the championship - „Kaunas Autumn“ - is usually the most intensive one, as titles and cups are shared out then. „Vilnius Rally“ and „Around Lithuania“ complement the other four stages. Such is rally championship of Lithuania.
Welcome !
